SLIGO ROVERS moved back up into the top six, but scarcely deserved their point against a Home Farm side whose performance warranted more than the consolation of coming off the bottom of the table on goal difference.
Ultimately, Sligo had 39 year old goalkeeper, Alan O'Neill, to thank and out of sorts winger, Johnny Kenny, to curse for saving a point and throwing two away respectively.
Kenny missed a sitter on 54 minutes after Ian Lynch's long ball and Padraig Moran's cross left him with a virtual tap in, but he miscued his tame shot well wide.
Two minutes later, O'Neill brilliantly tipped a Joey Herron header over his crossbar. While his opposite number, Robbie Forde, hadn't a save to make O'Neill had to be on his toes throughout. Chris Lawless earlier forced another good stop with a 20 yard volley.
Home Farm's display was all the more encouraging considering they were missing four regulars. After a shaky opening, when Sligo's Dale Hawtin looped a header narrowly wide from Moran's corner in Just the second minute, Home Farm dominated much of the rest of the game. Hawtin had to make a last gasp tackle to prevent Chris Lawless bursting through on goal in the 21st minute, and Sligo's big number five again had to clear bravely off his line two minutes before the break.
