SHAMROCK Rovers yesterday denied suggestions that the country's most successful club may soon be put up for sale.
Commenting on reports that changes at board level presaged bigger, more profound decisions, Pat Byrne, the club's general manager, said: "Shamrock Rovers are alive and well and definitely not for sale. We are angry about reports which suggest otherwise and which can only damage the image of the club".
He confirmed that Alan McGrath is resigning as chairman of Shamrock Rovers, at the end of the month and will be replaced by Brian Kearney. He also stated that in spite of planning objections, the club's Tallaght project was still viable and expressed the hope that outstanding problems will soon be resolved.
