With a round that contained 13 birdies and no errors, Annika Sorenstam became the first woman to card a 59 in tournament golf. She did it last March in the second round of the Standard Register Ping on the par-72, 6,459-yard Moon Valley CC in Phoenix, Arizona.
The 30-year-old Swede, who broke every LPGA scoring record for one and two rounds, said: "It was an incredible day, obviously. I had a lot of thoughts in my head. I was trying to stay calm and hit good shots; trying to hit it straight every time."
