GOLF US TOUR:JUSTIN ROSE, winner of the Memorial tournament three weeks ago, surged into the early hafway lead at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut with a brilliant eight under par round of 62.
That gave Rose a 14-under-par aggregate of 126 and a five stroke lead over Vijay Singh, Billy Lunde and Corey Pavin. “Everything’s playing nicely, I’m reading the greens well, stroking the ball well,” said Rose after his 62.
Rose admitted he was still not exactly flushing his shots, which sounds strange for someone who came within a stroke of tying the course record.
But Rose has been making putts and that’s been the difference – yesterday he made 16 of 17 putts from inside 10 feet for the second day in a row. “I think my feel is good right now,” Rose said. “So when I have a decent look, I’m getting it in.”
Padraig Harrington was nine shots off the lead after a one-over-par round of 71.
