The Italian league title race will go to the final day of the season following AS Roma's dramatic 2-2 draw at Napoli yesterday. Roma would have clinched their first league title in 18 years if they had beaten Napoli - regardless of Juve's 3-0 win at Vicenza and Lazio's defeat of Fiorentina by the same scoreline at the Olympic Stadium.

Roma led 2-1 with eight minutes to play thanks to Gabriel Batistuta and captain Francesco Totti. But Fabio Capello's side conceded a soft goal from a Fabio Pecchia free kick in the 82nd minute.

Roma have 72 points to Juve's 70 and Lazio's 69. Rome play Parma in Sunday final round, while Juventus host midtable Atalanta Bergamo and defending champions Lazio travel to struggling Lecce. Goal difference is not used to decide the championship and if two of the three teams finish level on points the title will be decided in a head-to-head play-off.

Elsewhere, AC Milan and Inter Milan sealed places in next year's UEFA Cup. Milan were held 1-1 by Brescia at the San Siro, while Inter won 2-1 at Bari.
