Leslie Robinson obviously used some of his own advanced coaching methods at Nuremore yesterday as he eased to victory in the Irish Club Professionals' championship with two strokes to spare over the field.
The Co Sligo professional, who is coach to the Connacht interprovincial teams, had to complete his first round yesterday morning after the heavy rain of Wednesday forced the abandonment of play. He started on the eighth green and finished with a fine 67 for an opening four-under-par. In the afternoon he finished with a 73 but it was ample to give him the title. The best score of the second round was a 67 from Damian Mooney who finished on level par for the tournament along with four other players in joint second place. Mooney had six birdies in a near perfect round.
