"We the full management team, having received the full backing from the Cavan county executive, feel that it is wrong that we must continue to negotiate our future in this manner. "We feel saddened that unwarranted interference in team affairs and manipulation of players by the chairman (Brendan Keaney) has made our position impossible. We hope that the future of Cavan football will not suffer, but it is our belief that we have acted honestly and with integrity at all times.

"There are many people who are genuine in their support for Cavan football and we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to them.

"It is with deep regret that we, the full management team and the full medical back-up team, tender our resignation with immediate effect."
