WESTMEATH SHC FINAL Raharney 2-14 Clonkill 1-16:RAHARNEY dethroned Clonkill in at Cusack Park, Mullingar yesterday.
Clonkill’s Alan Dowdall edged his side ahead for a half-time lead of 0-9 to 0-8. There was still little to separate the sides until Niall Dowdall goaled in the 49th minute and Raharney trailed by six points with seven minutes left.
However, the switching of Paul Greville from wing back to full forward proved inspirational and he rifled home a goal in the 57th minute to leave his side a point in arrears. There was five minutes of added-time and, in the second of those, a point from Murtagh seemed to be the insurance score for Clonkill but Brian Connaughton rifled a 25-metre free to the net.
