MIDDLESBROUGH manager Bryan Rob son has ordered those players struck down by a virus last week to stay at home until they are fully recovered.
The Boro boss does not want the bug to spread further, and is hoping to have a side available for the St Stehen's Day match home to Everton
Saturday's Premiership match with Blackburn was called off by Middlesbrough who said they could not field a representative side because of the virus and injuries.
Robson said: "I cannot afford the virus to get out of hand. I hope the situation has improved before our home match with Everton on Boxing Day."
The Premier League will hold an inquiry in the New Year into the cancellation, which angered Blackburn.
Middlesbrough face the threat of a fine but they will provide medical evidence to support the decision, while Blackburn caretaker manager Tony Parkes wants his club to be awarded the three points.
