Two prominent Gaelic footballers – Meath full back Kevin Reilly and Mayo forward Conor Mortimer – were reportedly attacked by a gang after they had left a shop in the Ballymun area of Dublin on Tuesday evening last, which left both needing hospital treatment.

While Mortimer was released from hospital on Tuesday night, it is understood Reilly was detained for eye treatment. The players are students in DCU.
