TWO goals from Brazilian star Rai put Paris St Germain into the European Cup Winners Cup semi finals in Paris last night to make it a treble first for French clubs.

Bordeaux sensationally knocked Italian league leaders AC Milan out of the UEFA Cup on Tuesday and Nantes reached the last four of the Champions Cup by putting out Spartak Moscow on Wednesday. It was the first time French clubs had qualified for the semi finals of the three European competitions in the same year.

Paris beat Parma 3-1 to overturn a single goal first leg defeat. Rai's two penalties and a goal from French striker Patrice Loko cancelled out Alessandro Melli's equaliser for the Italians who lost first leg scorer Hristo Stoichkov who limped off 20 minutes from time.

Paris had not been awarded a penalty in any competition this season until Swedish referee Leif Sundell obliged. Their goalkeeper Bernard Lama almost ruined everything by diving over Melli's shot for the Italian equaliser but then made amends with two close range saves.
