Ireland’s bowlers got a work out in a final warm-up game ahead of the World Twenty20 qualifier in Stormont yesterday as they bowled out Oman for 91 before the match was abandoned due to rain.
Alex Cusack and Tyrone Kane both struck in their opening overs after Ireland won the toss and put in Oman. Merrion all-rounder Kane, who celebrates his 21st birthday today, now looks set to take the new ball alongside Cusack in Friday's opening game against Namibia at Stormont and continues his fine breakthrough summer at international level.
Cusack was the pick of the seamers with three wickets for 26, while John Mooney picked up two wickets in four deliveries.
Left-arm spinner George Dockrell showed how key he will be for Ireland in the tournament, taking three for 15, before Cusack came back to wrap things up in the 19th over. N
