JAMIE OSBORNE, knocked unconscious in a fall from Coulton at Ascot on Wednesday, has made a quick recovery and was discharged from hospital yesterday. But the jockey now has to see out a mandatory 21 day spell on the sidelines before being allowed to return to action.

Osborne, who had ridden a double earlier in the afternoon at Ascot, was laid out cold after being unshipped from Oliver Sherwood's chestnut five fences from home in the Comet Chase, won by Sound Man.

Osborne, signed off for three weeks by virtue of his loss of consciousness, will be able to return the week before the Cheltenham Festival.

Conditional rider Graham Lee was yesterday facing up to an absence of at least six weeks after doctors confirmed that he has broken his rig ht leg. The jockey's worst fears were realised when he was x rayed at the North Tees Hospital, Stockton, after a Sedgefield fall.
