One More Spin to pay dividends

Gowran Park has the stage all to itself tomorrow, and while nothing is likely to finish the 16-runner Borris Handicap in such isolation, One More Spin is suggested as the likely winner.

The Edward O'Gradytrained five-year-old was quite a money spinner last year, winning over hurdles and on the flat and put in a nice effort at the Curragh last time when a running on fourth to Spirit Dancer. That race was over 12 furlongs, the distance over which One More Spin proved especially effective last year, but this mile should not be a problem as he proved when running second to Abaco at Leopardstown last season.

O'Grady will also be fancied to take the bumper with Laura Lugs, who ran a decent enough fourth to Diocese at Kilbeggan at the end of last month.

Another trainer who has double prospects tomorrow is Dermot Weld. The Curragh trainer's juveniles have been in good form so far this season and Thunder Cove is selected to beat the Ballydoyle representative, Scariff Bay, in the opening Ballyshaun Maiden.

The three-year-old Titus has had just the one run, when a beaten favourite behind Dragon Triumph at an early-season Curragh but should do a lot better now in the St Mullins Maiden. That Curragh race was on heavy ground and, as a son Theatrical, better going should be right up Titus's street.

The feature is the listed McCalmont Stakes, where French Ballerina could have a quick race before her intended target of next week's Ascot Gold Cup. If Pat Flynn's mare takes up tomorrow's option she will be hard to beat, but with her focus likely to be on Ascot it could pay off to take a chance with Musk Lime, who boasted some decent juvenile form last year, including a second to Kincara Palace in the Killavullan Stakes last October.
