Leeds United could be without Mark Viduka for six weeks after he was asked to report for duty to Australia's Olympic squad a week on Sunday, the day after Leeds open their Premiership campaign against Everton at Elland Road.
The striker, who completed a £6 million move from Celtic two weeks ago, would also be ruled out of the second leg of the Champions League qualifier against TSV 1760 Munich and the first three group games if Leeds progress.
Harry Kewell and the goalkeeper Danny Milosevic are also among the foreign contingent called up for the month-long training camp, although Kewell's achilles injury is likely to rule him out of the Olympics.
Meanwhile Kewell is now a target for Serie A champions Lazio. Club president Sergio Cragnotti sees the Australian star as a key factor in the Italians' bid to win the Champions League.
Cragnotti said yesterday:
"He is an excellent talent - I think the best in the Premiership - above Robbie Keane. He is a player who I admire and we will be looking at him this season and deciding for ourselves."
