Limerick 2-21 Waterford 0-11 Teenage scoring sensation Andrew O'Shaughnessy added to his reputation with a two-goal burst which deflated an already out of touch Waterford at wet and windy Kilmallock.
Waterford manager Justin McCarthy, embarrassed by this latest setback, must be drawing up plans to put the shackles on the youngster should the counties clash in the Munster championship on June 1st.
The Shannonsiders, who had experienced their own problems at the start of the league campaign, appear to have turned the corner and carried too many big guns for the reigning provincial champions.
Fringe player Conor Fitzgerald also left his calling card for the Limerick selectors with an impressive eight points.
It was all over at the break as rampant Limerick led 1-16 to 0-3, with O'Shaughnessy's goal coming on 26 minutes.
It was left to Dave Bennett to claim the visitors' scores, all from placed balls.
With the elements behind them on the change of ends, Waterford were expected to claw their way back, but they were matched point for point. The final blow arrived when O'Shaughnessy, who will play in the All-Ireland colleges final, delivered goal number two.
