GMIT 2-13 Cork IT 2-12:Andrew O'Shaughnessy starred for Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology in their surprise win over Cork IT at Bishopstown yesterday. The Limerick forward scored both goals as the visitors came from behind to hold out for victory.
O'Shaughnessy's long-range free in the 12th minute ended in the back of the net and a mistake in defence resulted in a second goal in the second half. Cork IT led by 1-8 to 1-7 - against the run of play - at half-time, the goal coming from an injury-time penalty by Ryan Clifford.
The Cork side added a second within a minute of the restart through Leigh Desmond, but O'Shaughnessy's accuracy, as well as late points from Mark Flaherty and Kenneth Burke, helped cause the upset.
