Ronan O'Gara's availability for Ireland's Six Nations Championship match against Wales in the Millennium Stadium on Saturday won't be compromised by an injury sustained while playing for Cork Constitution on Saturday or by any impending move to the Miami Dolphins American Football team. John O'Sullivan reports.

There had been media speculation over the weekend that O'Gara had to go to hospital in the wake of Con's 61-5 win over Carlow at Temple Hill on Saturday with suspected concussion.

The facts are a little more mundane. O'Gara suffered an eye injury, which required a bandage, but he finished the match and Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan said he had no worries about the outhalf's availability for the Welsh game.

"We have the same injury situation that we had last week. Ronan got a bang on the eye but finished the game. It's nothing more serious than that," he said.

O'Gara had a fine game for , his distribution and place-kicking a feature of their victory. The 25-year-old also made the headlines in connection with an alleged multi-million dollar offer to join the Miami Dolphins. O'Gara did confirm he had a basic general discussion with Dolphins' owner, Wayne Huizenga.

"I was flabbergasted when I received the call. This happened a few weeks ago. I have not given it too much thought but you can never say never. Nothing can happen until the rugby season is over and hopefully that will not be until May 25th."

O'Gara did confirm he would be concentrating on his rugby career for the foreseeable future. His focus is on Ireland's final two games in the Six Nations, Munster's European Cup quarter-final meeting with Leicester and any subsequent matches and the World Cup.

It's not surprising he didn't dismiss out of hand any future discussions with the Dolphins given a potentially lucrative contract and the fact that any move is very much theoretical at present.

"My discussions with the owner of the Dolphins were very basic and only in the initial stage. It is something that I may consider later in my career."

O'Sullivan preferred to focus on the tangible rather the abstract. His priorities centre on the rehabilitation of Gary Longwell, David Humphreys and Girvan Dempsey ahead of the trip to the Millennium Stadium. The Ireland team to play Wales will be announced tomorrow at lunch-time.
