WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: MONAGHAN WERE beaten finalists last time round and for 40 minutes they had the champions Cork rattled. They had a slow start to the championship, but have benefited from the qualifier route and have improved with each outing.

Edel Byrne and Aoife McAnespie are two star turns for Monaghan while Niamh Kindlon will keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Dublin are an anomaly. They have beaten Cork a number of times over the last three years yet they have consistently failed to transfer those performances into crunch games.

Lyndsey Davey and Sinéad Ahern will lead the line for them, but the influence of goalkeeper Cliodhna O’Connor may prove decisive in today’s semi-final.
