In yesterday's second round of the PGA Tour final qualifying school at the Bear Lakes Country Club, Florida, Keith Nolan fought back from a disastrous start for the second day in succession to finish with a level par 72, three shots worse than his previous day's round.

However, his three-under 141 leaves him nine shots off the early pace set by Tommy Armour 111.

A three-bogey stretch from 13 through 16 did the damage and Nolan was unhappy with his play, once again made more difficult with a troubling left to right cross wind.

"I got off to a terrible start, hit it in the water off the tee on 10 and yet managed to hit a four iron to a foot and make par," he said.

"Then I made three bogeys and had to fight all the way against that left to right wind which is just killing me. I made a couple of birdies coming in at six and then at eight.

"There I hit a terrible shot but it rolled all the way from the front of the green and finished two feet from the cup."

All is not lost, however, as here there is no four-round cut and with four rounds remaining Nolan can still haul himself back into the fray with a couple of low rounds in the days ahead.
