John Oxx will make a final decision tomorrow over whether to run Pugin in the Doncaster St Leger on Saturday - or switch him to the Irish equivalent.
The colt will be partnered by Johnny Murtagh if he appears at Doncaster.
He was among 12 confirmations on Monday but he is also still in the Jefferson Smurfit Memorial Irish St Leger, being run at the Curragh on the same day for the first time.
A spokeswoman for Oxx said yesterday: "There won't be any decision until Thursday morning. A final decision will be made then.
"The ground will be one of the factors and Mr Oxx will discuss the matter with the owner (Lady Clague). It's 50-50 which one he goes for but he will run in one or the other.
"The horse is fine and we will be looking to run a good race."
The colt won a maiden race at Navan in April and a listed race at the Curragh in May.
Dermot Weld has also still not decide whether to run Vinnie Roe at Doncaster. "I have made no decision yet," he said.
Irish contenders made up six of the dozen confirmations for the Doncaster race on Monday, for which Mr Combustible has shortened to 2 to 1 favourite.
Aidan O'Brien still has Mediterranean, Milan, Saddler's Creek and Life Match in the Doncaster race but a decision is not expected until at least today on which of the quartet will represent the stable in the two classics.
Ted Durcan is set to take the ride on Godolphin's possible St Leger runner, Alunissage, if Frankie Dettori heads for the Curragh.
Dettori is expected to ride Marienbard in the Irish St Leger.
