Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will miss Manchester United's final match of the season at Tottenham on Saturday following knee surgery. Solskjaer had surgery yesterday after complaining of a pain in his knee for the last two months. The striker is expected to be out for six weeks and will miss Norway's World Cup doubleheader next month against Ukraine and Belarus. Solskjaer will spend the summer recuperating and will be back when United report for pre-season training at the start of July.
Harry Redknapp last night expressed his delight and relief after agreeing a contract settlement with West Ham. Redknapp parted company with the Hammers a week ago and the Professional Footballers' Association deputy chief executive Mick McGuire has helped thrash out a deal for him, and assistant Frank Lampard senior, in talks with Hammers chairman Terence Brown. "A deal has been agreed in principle and is now subject to signatures," said Redknapp.
Bayern Munich's rising midfield star Owen Hargreaves has been named in the England squad for a European Under-21 friendly with Mexico on May 24th and a championship qualifier with Greece on June 5th.
Blackburn Rovers are in talks with Glasgow Rangers over the possibility of signing Turkish midfielder Tugay Kerimoglu. The vastly-experienced Turkish international was the skipper of Turkish giants Galatasaray when Rovers' manager Graeme Souness was in charge.
