UEFA yesterday confirmed there was no possibility of another European ban for English football following the violent scenes at Euro 2000. General secretary Gerhard Aigner said there will be no repeat of the ban for English clubs which followed the Heysel disaster of 1985.
Manchester United are keen that Massimo Taibi will only leave Old Trafford in a permanent deal. Napoli are interested in signing the hapless goalkeeper on loan, but United are not interested and want a fee for the Italian in order to recoup as much of his £4.5 million transfer fee as possible. Terry Yorath is again poised to link up with new Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Jewell after quitting Bradford yesterday.
Meanwhile Wednesday's former manager Danny Wilson has been appointed manager of second division Bristol City.
