Manchester United have decided to take part in the preseason tournament to celebrate Bayern Munich's centenary, despite the inclusion of Galatasaray.
United had reviewed their participation in the four-team event on August 4th-5th after the Turkish side stepped in as replacements for AC Milan last week.
United were sensitive about causing offence following the deaths of the two Leeds fans in Istanbul before the Yorkshire club's UEFA Cup semi-final first leg with Galatasaray and the rioting which marred the final against Arsenal in Copenhagen.
The English Football League believe the £315 million deal they have struck with ONdigital and ITV will help close the gap between themselves and the Premiership. Clubs will also be entitled to a share of pay-per-view revenues when the three-year contract begins in season 2001-2002.
Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff has agreed a new four-year contract with Blackburn. Duff, 21, said: "This is my club and I have always been happy here. My aim now is to play my part in getting us back to the Premiership."
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale has denied reports that the club are poised to make bids for Premiership stars Steffen Iversen and Nicky Barmby.
