Tonight at St James' Park Bobby Robson and his players will be looking to push home the 2-1 advantage they brought back from Switzerland to progress in the competition.
That could mean a first start since September for Duncan Ferguson, who is back in business after recovering from a hamstring injury picked up in Sofia.
Robson is likely to make several changes to the side which drew 0-0 at Arsenal at the weekend with goalkeeper Steve Harper, suspended for the trip to Highbury, replacing John Karelse and Kevin Gallacher again ineligible.
But there is no place for Frenchman Franck Dumas, who could be on his way out of the club just months after making the move to England.
