BASKETBALL:BORD GÁIS Neptune are set for a busy weekend in the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague with two games scheduled against Moycullen and Ulster Elks respectively.
11890 Killester have an all capital affair with DCU Saints, while UCD Marian will be looking to earn their first win of the season against UCC Demons.
Neptune got off to a winning start last weekend against Belfast Star and have the opportunity to lay down their intentions for the season with two games in the space of three days.
Moycullen are the visitors to the Neptune Stadium tonight before the Cork side make the trip to Belfast on Sunday to take on Ulster Elks.
Moycullen are likely to be at full strength and will be hoping for a reverse in fortunes after suffering a heavy defeat to Killester on the opening weekend.
Ulster Elks will be desperate to get off the mark at the expense of Neptune as they look to erase the disappointment of finishing rooted to the Northern Conference last season.
UCC Demons got their reign under Paul Kelleher off to a winning start last weekend but their head coach believes his side will have to improve if they are to emerge from UCD with their second win of the season.
UCD Marian’s 6ft 7in American James Crowder marked his debut last weekend with 22 points but he will be looking for improvements in his game for the visit of Demons.
“This weekend’s plan for me is to be more aggressive and get more rebounds,” said Crowder.
DCU Saints have a number of injury worries as they look forward to facing their first game of the season, the minor matter of a clash with the reigning champions Killester.
Kevin Lacey is ruled out with a long term injury until the new year, while Mark Nagle is regaining fitness after a dislocated shoulder, which saw him miss most of pre-season. Eoin Quill is battling to overcome a hamstring problem but is expected to be fit in time.
Michael Hennebry was one of the stars of Killester’s opening win away to Moycullen but he is urging caution ahead of their meeting with DCU Saints.
“They beat us last year at home and they have shown they can compete at our place,” said Hennebry. “We did beat them in the play-offs but we are really concentrating at going 2-0 for the start of the season.”
