Mount Temple came out on top in this tight Leinster Senior Schools Section A Cup quarter-final contest played at Belfield yesterday.

It was a day which DLS Churchtown will want to forget as Mount Temple, playing into a difficult breeze, began well but despite successive drives from Ross Maybury, and their two props, Noel Leonard and Gary Kells, they were unable to breach the DLS Churchtown line. Finally Maybury sent over a penalty from a straightforward position.

DLS then went ahead when front row Eoin O'Hara broke through the Mount Temple cover to score a great try under the posts but unfortunately was unsuccessful with the conversion.

Temple were then back in front when following several phases of play Andy Coggin took a quick ball off the pack to score on the right.

Hooker John Egan managed numerous strikes against the head and powerful number eight John Phelan was important in giving the winners good field position from where they forced the opportunities for Conor Phelan to kick two penalties.
