Damian Mooney went on the rampage at Balmoral yesterday to shoot an amazing 61 in the Fred Daly Memorial pro-am tournament. He carved out his eight-under-par round with seven birdies and an eagle with just one dropped shot all day.
Mooney was seven shots clear of the field after two halves of four-under-par. He strung together a hat-trick of birdies from the second rolling home putts of up to 20 feet. His only mistake was at the par four fifth hole where he overclubbed to make bogey but that lost ground was re-gained when he reached the seventh green with a drive and nine iron and got down from 20 feet for eagle three.
