Moon Emperor is a horse who is making a habit of producing shock results, and he left punters stunned when scoring at 25 to 1 in the feature race at Lingfield yesterday.

The four-year-old had floored the odds laid on the supposed Martin Pipe hot-pot Montreal when winning on his hurdling debut at Leicester last month, and he was unconsidered for his return to Flat racing for the Tote Trifecta 1-2-3 Stakes (Showcase Handicap).

Favourite White Plains looked an assured winner entering the final furlong, but Jamie Spencer produced a strong run from Moon Emperor who got up to score by three-quarters of a length.
