Montjeu won the Group One Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in the style of a true champion at the French track yesterday and now has Ascot's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes firmly in his sights.

Last season's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner was tucked in last of the four runners - his pacemaker Stop By leading in the early stages from 1998 Arc winner Sagamix and Daring Miss.

Cash Asmussen kept him last of the four runners until putting the others out of their misery after their home turn. Sauntering into the lead on the outside past Sagamix, he quickened clear to slam Daring Miss by five lengths.
