Despite a brave performance by CUS, Monkstown CBC had a convincing victory at Merrion Road yesterday.
Last year's Senior Cup semi-finalists opened the scoring after six minutes when outhalf Mark Tuthill weaved through the CUS defence for a converted try.
By half-time Dundon had more than made amends for an earlier miss by converting two penalties. He added a try after a crossfield passing move found him free on the left, putting the score 18-0 before the sides changed ends.
Tuthill extended the Monkstown lead eight minutes into the second half with his second try. Barry O'Brien completed the scoring 11 minutes from full time when his side drove over rather than take the opportunity of kicking a penalty.
