St Mochta's capped a remarkable weekend for the Leinster Senior League when they beat Kilkenny side Evergreen at Porterstown Road to join giant-killers Bluebell United and Bangor Celtic in the third round.
Kieran Fitzpatrick put St Mochta's in front after 27 minutes when slotting home David Cummin's accurate cross and added another from close range early in the second half.
Defender Kieran Conroy reacted quickest in a crowded penalty to head Evergreen back into the game with half an hour to go. They then had a couple of other chances before substitute Ricky Hughes made the game safe for St Mochta's with a late third goal.
