The Leinster Ladies Alliance suffered one of their rare defeats when they went down by the odd match, 3 1/2 to 2 1/2, to Portmarnock in the annual series of matches against male opposition. However, they recovered quickly to beat Bray 31/2 to 11/2. However, all but one of the six matches in Portmarnock ended in honourable halves. Tom Cuddihy and Richard Fleury were the only winners for Portmarnock: they beat Doreen Brennan and Patricia McAllister on the 16th.
Portmarnock captain Vincent Sex and Bobby Cuddy halved with Rhona Fanagan and Eilish Buckley, while Joe King, a past captain, and secretary/manager John Quigley halved with Moira Cassidy and Barbara Kelly. However, it was back to winning ways at Bray where Hilary O'Herlihy and Pat Doran gave the LLA a winning start with a 2 and 1 win over Dave Knight and Jim Butler.
