Milltown, with Irish Close champion Suzie Fanagan back from honeymoon, will set out in defence of their ILGU Eastern District Senior Cup crown at Hermitage today with a first-round match against Naas.
At the opposite end of the draw, Grange, led by Irish international Hazel Kavanagh, will meet Old Conna in their opening match. The finals will be staged tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Woodenbridge's grip on the Midlands District Senior Cup was relinquished last week when Curragh - inspired by the in-form Lillian Behan - regained the title.
The Surgeon Noonan Society of UCC will stage a golf classic at Kanturk Golf Club on June 1st in aid of a very worthy cause. The society is a registered charity run by fifth year medical students at UCC and the purpose is to send volunteers to work in African hospitals during the summer break, also taking with them badly needed supplies to these poorly-resourced hospitals. The classic plays a major role in fundraising and anyone interested in entering a team of three (men, women or mixed) for £30 should contact Brian O'Connell at 029-50731.
