St Mirren 0 Rangers 1 KENNY MILLER headed a late winner for Rangers in the Scottish League Cup despite having two men sent off in a 1-0 victory against St Mirren at Hampden Park.
The Scottish Premier League leaders looked lacklustre in the first period could have found themselves behind when David Barron clipped the bar from 30 yards with a ferocious drive just before the interval.
After bossing the opening exchanges St Mirren then had their chances of winning the silverware boosted on 53 minutes when Thompson was given a straight red card. Danny Wilson followed his team mate down the tunnel for a professional foul with 19 minutes of normal time remaining.
However, despite St Mirren pushing for a winner it was Rangers who sensationally struck.
Scotland striker Miller headed a dramatic winner in the 84th minute to hand Rangers a record 26th League Cup trophy.
Rangers, who lead the SPL by 10 points from rivals Celtic, remain on course for a domestic treble with a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Dundee United to come on Wednesday.
