ULSTER SCHOOLS' CUP SEMI-FINAL: Methodist College 36 Ballyclare High 3:METHODIST COLLEGE qualified to meet RBAI in the Ulster Schools' Cup final at Ravenhill on St Patrick's Day following their convincing win over Ballyclare High yesterday. In the forward exchanges the Co Antrim team held their own for long periods but the Methody three-quarters dominated the tie, finding gaps in the defence as Ballyclare repeatedly kicked away possession.

Ballyclare had a Jordan Annett penalty in the first minute and they continued to have the better of the exchanges for the next 10 minutes but were unable to penetrate the defence. After 14 minutes Patrick Robinson levelled with a penalty and then Michael Allen swept through for a try, which Robinson converted. Niall Annett picked and fed Allen who touched down on 18 minutes. Robinson converted for a 17-3 half-time lead.

In the first minute of the second half Patrick Jackson chipped ahead and won the touch-down for Robinson to convert. Shortly afterwards Troy Turkington-Thompson touched down before Blane McIlroy added the fifth, Robinson converting the first.
