Meteors avenged two consecutive Cup semi final defeats and also ended Naomh Mhuire's three in a row Cup dream with this comprehensive 13-point win in the first Women's semi final.
Meteors were taller stronger and tactically superior throughout as they dominated rebounds and punished Mhuire from the free throw line with impressive statistics of 19 successful shots from 23 attempts.
Meteors got scant reward for their control of the first half and they only led 34-32 at the interval. When Naomh Mhuire levelled at 36-all in the first minute of the second period it looked as though a close finale was in prospect but a sequence of nine consecutive points in the following three minutes - two lay ups from Karen Smith and baskets each from Angela McNally and Karen Hennessey - pulled Meteors 45-36 ahead and they never let up from thereon.
Mhuire tried man to man and zone defences in an effort to stem the tide against them but with the three tallest players on court.
Orla Callen, Mary O'Mahony and Hennessey - all scoring freely. Meteors claimed their place in tomorrow's final with ease.
