EUROPEAN MEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP:Any hopes of an Irish medal in Finland disappeared yesterday as Paul Cutler fell 14 strokes off the pace.
The Walker Cup hopeful from Portstewart returned a 73 for a 54-hole aggregate of 217 – one over par.
The other Irish survivor, Rory Leonard, finished with a flourish grabbing birdies at three of the last four holes having earlier carded six bogeys. Leonard ended with a 74 for a 219 aggregate, while Dara Lernihan, Cian Cutler and Alan Dunbar all failed to make the halfway cut.

GIRLS' INTERNATIONALS:Ireland finished with the wooden spoon at Bangor yesterday as they crashed 5½-3½ to Scotland, following defeats to both England and Wales.
Ireland held the Scots 1½-1½ in the morning foursomes and put up a brave fight in the singles but lost 4-2. When Anna Courtney went down on the home green to Ann Summers Irish hopes ended.
There were good singles wins for Paula Grant and Sarah Helly but Scotland had done enough. England beat wales to take the Stroyan Cup for the third consecutive year.
