Seβn McSherry from the European Club brought the Leinster Alliance season to a successful end when he won the Captain's (Michael Doody) prize at Hermitage last week. McSherry, off an eight handicap, shot 71 to win on the break of a tie from Barry O'Leary of Greystones and Old Conna's Tony Kelly. John Kenny, a member of the winning Portmarnock team in the Irish Times Shield was next on 72, the same mark as Jimmy Hackman of Greystones. The gross prize went to Stackstown's Michael McDermott on 71 and he had two shots to spare over Delgany's Brian Murphy and Greg Massey of Hermitage. Donal Gleeson from Old Conna and Greg Bowden (Hermitage) took the remaining places, with Ed Pettitt (Killiney) winning the professional's prize from Bobby Browne (Laytown and Bettystown).
