A Trish McHugh hat-trick yesterday, in her second last game for Muckross before she retires, secured the Dublin club a place in today's bronze medal play-off against Swansea at the European Club Championships (B Division) in Cardiff.
Two short corner strikes from McHugh gave Muckross a 2-0 half-time lead in their final pool match against Torotex but the Moldovian side drew level with just two minutes remaining.
With 30 seconds left to play Muckross forced another short corner and, after the hooter had sounded, McHugh converted her third short corner of the match to clinch victory for her team and second place in Pool B. Muckross's hopes of reaching today's finals ended on Saturday when they lost 2-1 to Stade Francais.
The Czech Republic's Slavia Prague and Ritm Grodno of Belarus meet in today's final; Pegasus will play in the B Division of the European Club Championships next season.
