TONY McCOY, who rode three winners at Wincanton on Monday, repeated the feat yesterday and tightened his stranglehold on the jockeys' championship with a sparkling 136 to 1 treble at Uttoxeter.

The first leg was supplied by David Nicholson, without a runner on Easter Monday, who completed an across the card double when Goldwyn snatched a last-gasp success in the Weatherby's Printing Services Novice Handicap Hurdle.

With Exclusion clear two out there appeared to be little hope for McCoy's mount but with the leader tying up badly on the run-in, the Irishman galvanised his willing partner and the partnership grabbed an unlikely short head victory in the last stride.

Larry's Lord regained the winning thread when storming home nine lengths to the good from old stager Elfast in the Houghton Vaughan Handicap Chase.

Making all under the champion elect, the Paul Nichols-trained seven-year-old put up an improved display of jumping and had his rivals toiling from three out.

McCoy completed the treble when hurdling debutant Nescaf came with a powerful late surge to catch Grooms Gold.
