RUNAWAY Jockeys' championship leader Tony McCoy yesterday decided to delay his return to action until Monday. He had originally planned to come back from a wrist injury at Newton Abbot today and had several mounts booked.
But his agent Dave Roberts explained yesterday evening: "Tony decided to take a couple more days off as he is just a bit sore. He has had some physio and they advised him to have another day off. He will be back on Monday at Southwell."
McCoy is well clear at the top of the National Hunt riders table with 146 winners to date in Britain this season. He suffered a wrist injury in a fall in the first race at Cheltenham on Thursday and has not ridden since.
Ray Cochrane continued his fine start to the Flat turf season with a 98 to 1 double at Brighton yesterday on Star Talent (10 to 1) and Bashful Brave (8 to 1)
