UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE: Rangers (0) v PSV Eindhoven (0):THE RANGERS assistant manager, Ally McCoist, has appealed against the two-match touchline ban imposed for the confrontation with Celtic manager Neil Lennon at the end of a fiery Old Firm match on March 2nd, which Celtic won 1-0.

McCoist believes he did nothing to merit his Scottish Football Association suspension and Rangers submitted an appeal before yesterday’s 5pm deadline.

He is set to remain in the dug-out for Sunday’s League Cup final, against Celtic, at Hampden Park.

McCoist’s attentions tonight will be on the team’s attempts to progress to the last eight of the Europa League.

Rangers held PSV Eindhoven to a scoreless draw in the Netherlands last week.

Walter Smith, the manager, is promising an attacking approach at home tonight but has a dilemma over whether to start Steven Naismith.

The attacker has only just recovered from a hamstring problem and, with Sunday’s final looming, Smith does not believe Naismith will be able to handle consecutive full games.

Nikica Jelavic is ineligible while Jamie Ness (groin), Lee McCulloch (knee) and Kirk Broadfoot (foot) remain on the sidelines.
