NATIONAL LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION: Drogheda United 0 Bohemians 1:A LOCALISED electrical fault in the vicinity of United Park saw the lights go out at the break last night and after what seemed like an eternity referee Anthony Buttimer was forced to abandon the match with Bohemians a goal to the good.
A poor opening 20 minutes culminated with Paddy Madden driving in from the right and cutting the ball back to Raffaele Cretaro whose shot towards goal was blocked down by Corey Treacy.
Approaching the half-hour mark Bohemians were awarded a dubious free on the edge of the United box, much to the disappointment of most in the 900 crowd but Ruaidhri Higgins’s effort was saved by goalkeeper Paul Murphy. The visitors made the breakthrough in the 31st minute when Mark Quigley clipped a ball in from the left which the in-form Paddy Madden headed past Murphy.
However, the defending champions weren’t afforded the opportunity to build on their half-time lead as the match was abandoned.
