Dermot Weld's Major Force was beaten a total of six lengths when sixth to Field Of Hope in the Group One Prix de la Foret at Longchamp yesterday.
Another disappointment in the race was Godolphin's odds-on shot Diktat, who was only fifth. Frankie Dettori's mount was slowly away and could never land a blow despite finishing strongly to get within three lengths of the 18 1/2 to 1 winner.
Field Of Hope held on from Keos by three-quarters of a length, with Trans Island a short neck away in third.
Sir Peter O'Sullevan had his first success as an owner in France since his Be Friendly won the Prix de l'Abbaye in 1968, when his Tarbazan was successful in the Prix de la Ville de Paris.
