Bohemians are set to unveil Pete Mahon as the club's new manager in succession to Roddy Collins at a press conference at 1.00 p.m. today. The former St Francis manager, who had been strongly linked with the Kilkenny City job in recent weeks, was Collins's number two as the club captured the domestic double in the season just ended.
The relationship between Bohemians and Roddy Collins ended after the club claimed Collins failed to attend a meeting on May 19th to negotiate a new contract and that comments attributed to him in the media created an impression that it would no longer be preferable for him to be in charge.
Up until last week, Collins maintained he was still manager of the club. However, it is now believed Collins gave Mahon his blessing to have talks with the club about becoming the new manager.
Meanwhile, Martin O'Neill's treble-winning Celtic will play Shelbourne in a pre-season friendly at Tolka Park on Sunday, July 8th. Tickets for the game will cost either £25 or £30 and go on sale from HMV outlets tomorrow. A limited number of children's tickets will be available at £5.
