ADRIAN MAGUIRE'S miserable season continued in a black vein yesterday when Michael Foy, specialist at the Ridgeway Hospital, Swindon, advised the jockey to wait for a further three weeks before resuming race riding.
The news will come as another heavyweight blow to Maguire who has been knocked out of several major meetings over the past couple of seasons, most notably, recently missing his second successive Cheltenham Festival.
This latest injury, a broken collar bone incurred at Newbury on March 1st, leaves Maguire on the bench for the last major jumps meeting of the season, Aintree.
A very disappointed Maguire last night said "It is bad news I'm afraid. Michael has said that judging by the X-rays, the bone has only healed between 30 and 40 per cent."
Meanwhile, Dean Gallagher has been ruled out of riding Into The Red in Saturday's Martell Grand National after a heavy fall at Fontwell yesterday. Richard Guest has now been booked to ride the horse.
The Irishman, fourth in the big race at Aintree last year on Dubacilla, has a broken collar bone and will be sidelined for at least a fortnight. Gallagher sustained his injury in a fall on Royal Rabbit in the opening Climping Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.
