Stewart Cink earned his first PGA Tour victory at the $1.5 millionGreater Hartford Open in Connecticut, and with a final round 66 equalledGreg Norman's 1995 tournament scoring record of 267, 13 under par.

Cink finished a stroke ahead of three golfers: third round leader JeffMaggert, who elected not to play it safe on the final hole and paid theprice with a bogey to record a one-over-par 71, as well as Brandel Chamblee (66) and Tom Byrum (69).

"I'll never forget this day, to be on top of one of these fields - to win - wow, that's really something, who at 24 continues the recent trend of youngwinners on the PGA tour.

A star college golfer and the 1996 Nike Tour player of the year, with threewins and a single-season earnings record on that circuit, Cink began the 1997PGA Tour season with the expectations of many that he would succeed TigerWoods as rookie of the yar.

But Cink got off to a slow start this year, and had his best finish lastmonth with a tie for sixth at Westchester.
