A late goal from substitute Donie Madden clinched victory for NUIG in this exciting preliminary round Fitzgibbon Cup game against MICE in Limerick yesterday.
The home side went ahead after three minutes with a marvellous goal from a 70-yard free by Con Harrison and they led 1-3 to 0-3 after 20 minutes.
However, NUIG hit a run of form and points from Padraig McHugh and Niall Kelly put them level 1-4 to 0-7 at the interval.
Dave Loughrey put MICE back in front and they stood firm facing into the elements until Madden hit that late goal. McHugh then added another point.
