Three strikes by corner forward John Lunny in the first half sent St Peter's College, Wexford, crashing out of the Leinster Colleges Senior Football Championship and propelled title holders St Patrick's, Navan, through to the semi-finals yesterday.
Lunny gave the Meath school their 3-3 to 2-3 interval lead with his third goal on 28 minutes. It came after St Peter's had recovered from his two earlier strikes and clawed their way back into the game to take the lead for the only time in the match.
Navan dominated the third quarter and although St Peter's outscored their opponents in the final quarter in Arklow, it was not enough.
